Coronation Street has seemingly teased Jodie Ramsey’s downfall with a surprising twist. The café waitress, played by Olivia Frances Brown, arrived on the ITV soap earlier this year amid the programme’s crossover with Emmerdale when she was seen tied up in the back of a van, and was quickly established as Shona Platt’s long-lost sister, who had never been mentioned before.

But something is clearly not right with Jodie, as she’s made all sorts of unverified claims about having a dark past and has been seen stealing items that belong to the other Weatherfield residents and keeping them in a trinket box. Amongst other things, she has collected a book belonging to Brian Packham and a cut-out of Bernie Winter’s face.

Amid all this, she is posing as a caring sister to Shona and her husband David (Jack P Shepherd) as they continue to deal with the upset surrounding their newborn daughter Harper, who recently underwent an operation to have a tumour from her neck removed. So far, Jodie has got herself a job in Roy’s Rolls and moved into number eight with her sister, where she has been hellbent on doing the cooking and cleaning.

But on Thursday night’s episode of the world’s longest-running TV soap, things were rumbled by her teenage niece Lily Platt, who bluntly asked her: “Why have you got Bernie’s head in a box?” Panicking, Jodie replied: “It… It was a joke. You haven’t shown anyone that, have you?”
Viewers will know that Jodie has been pretending to be Harper’s mum at the hospital, and when Shona caught her doing this earlier in the episode, she managed to wriggle her way out of it by telling lies about another woman at the hospital.
Lily replied: “No. Not yet,” and she fumbled a couple of further excuses before Bethany Platt came down the stairs and sensed the atmosphere as she left the house. Jodie, who has known Lily for a matter of weeks, said to the schoolgirl: “I’ve always had your back, so you’ve got to have mine. OK? Lily, you’re not gonna tell anyone, are you?”

Undeterred, Lily simply said: “I’ll think about it,” and walked out of the living room, leaving Jodie, who recently pretended to be her sister to a stran
ger at the hospital, with a look of horror on her face.
Fans were quick to react to the scene, with one writing on X: “Jodie is getting on my nerves why aren’t David and Shona seeing through it? They aren’t daft!”
Another said: “I’m glad Lily confronted Jodie on her box and hopefully she will tell someone about how f****** mental that is. But I can see Jodie possibly trying to do something to keep Lily quiet which makes me worried.”

A third wrote: “How did Jodie get out of that one? That was insane,” whilst a fourth asked: “So, #Corrie. what exactly is Jodie’s level of crazy they seem to be putting her through as a villain? Cause she seems all over the place.”
