Emmerdale is shifting in the Christmas schedules – here’s when you can tune into the latest drama from the Dales.

Tuning into the soaps at Christmas is a long-cherished tradition for millions of people across the country.

However, now that Christmas television schedules are being introduced, soap fans are being warned to keep up with the shifting schedules for shows such as Emmerdale, Coronation Street and EastEnders.

To ensure that you don’t miss a moment of drama – here’s when you can catch Emmerdale on television over Christmas.

When is Emmerdale on over Christmas?

 

The Emmerdale Christmas and New Years schedule from Monday, December 22 until Thursday, January 1 can be found below:

Emmerdale will return on Monday, January 5 – but there’s a big change coming to the ITV soap schedule. January 5 will see Emmerdale air as normal at 7pm followed by Coronation Street at 7.30pm, however a very special hour-long episode will air directly after at 8pm.

The Corriedale crossover episode will air in this slot, which will mark the first time that the two ITV soaps have crossed paths on screen. The historic episode will see characters from each soap become involved in a devastating car-crash which will have shocking consequences for residents of both Weatherfield and Emmerdale.

The Corriedale premiere will launch ITV’s new ‘soap power hour’, which will see both Emmerdale and Coronation Street move to a new broadcast schedule. Both soaps will air half-hour episodes every weeknight from 8-9pm, with Emmerdale hitting screens at 8pm and Coronation Street following at 8.30pm.

However, before then, there is plenty of drama in the Dales this festive period. Kev makes an unwelcome return after vowing to get revenge on estranged husband Robert and Aaron, meanwhile Ray grows closer to Laurel and Lydia and Kim’s issues come to a head.
