Jim (Charles Lawson) first arrived on the cobbles back in 1989, making his entrance in Weatherfield alongside wife Liz (Beverley Callard) and twin sons Steve (Simon Gregson) and Andy (Nicholas Cochrane).

It’s fair to say Jim – a former soldier who served in the Royal Engineers – certainly stirred up his fair share of drama on the street. From battles with alcohol addiction and domestic violence to multiple spells behind bars, Jim’s time in Weatherfield has never been short of turmoil.
Jim featured on and off on the ITV soap between 1989 and his most recent appearance in 2018, when he returned in a bid to con Liz out of her money. He was eventually rumbled and fled in 2018, and hasn’t been seen since.
Recently on the soap, Steve discovered that Jim had been gravely ill, and whilst he travelled to the hospital in an attempt to reconnect with his estranged father, he couldn’t bring himself to go inside, reports the Daily Star.

Next week, however, Steve will learn the devastating news that Jim has passed away, leaving him utterly heartbroken. Now, with Jim’s death confirmed, fans are predicting a major comeback for his funeral.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers are convinced that son Andy could be set for a return to the cobbles. One viewer commented: “They should bring Steve’s brother Andy back for Jim’s funeral.”

Another agreed, saying: “Yes we never see Andy!” A third suggested: “They need to bring in some of Jim’s side of the family or have Steve’s twin Andy return with his family!”.
Andy featured in numerous major storylines throughout his time on Coronation Street. His character experienced unsuccessful relationships with various residents, including Amy Nelson (Louise Duprey) and Paula Maxwell (Judy Brook).
He also had a stint working at the Rovers and found himself caught up in Gerry Turner’s (Keith Woodason) armed siege.

Nevertheless, actor Nicholas was compelled to depart the soap alongside other prominent characters when a new producer took over in 1997. Andy’s exit storyline saw him taking up a teaching position in Spain.

The actor has made several guest appearances over the years, reprising his role as Andy in 2000 and 2004. His most recent appearance was in 2009, when Andy came back for Steve’s wedding to Becky Granger (Katherine Kelly).
